The thing about life
I didn't know
was that showing up
requires courage
needs will and determination
makes you prioritize
what is important
and what can wait by the wayside
we show up for love
for warmth and care
for the things that make us
connect and share
Showing up also means
checking up on a friend
being available and present
being aware of one's attention
a listening ear
a pat on the back
a way to acknowledge
and be grateful for what we have
