BELMONDO BOOK CLUB

 BBC- The Non-Fiction Book Club

Love underlining powerful lines and sharing insights?

Join our NON-FICTION Book Club , exclusively for residents of Belmondo, where we do more than just read- we respond.

Bring a book that inspires you.

Read a short excerpt from the book. Engage in an enriching discussion.

Unleash your creativity through reflective writing

Read- Discuss - Reflect - Write!

The Belmondo Book Club is a vibrant gathering of curious minds and thoughtful readers who

come together to share the power of non-fiction. Each session is a celebration of diverse

ideas, insights, and personal reflections.

Here’s how it works:

Every member brings a non-fiction book of their choice – something that has inspired,

intrigued, or challenged them. Out of all present, 4 or 5 members are selected by drawing lots

to present in that session. If time permits, all can have a say as well. We do not entertain topics related to politics and religion, for or against a community etc.

RESPONSIBILITY  OF THE READER:

  • Please start by sharing the name and author of your book.

  • Show the book cover, and talk a bit about the title and the cover.

  • Each selected member takes the spotlight for around 10 minutes:

  • • 3 minutes to summarize the essence of the book,

  • • 5 minutes to read an impactful excerpt, and

  • • 2 minutes to share their personal takeaway – what struck them, moved them, or shifted their thinking.

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE LISTENERS :

  • While a reader is narrating their excerpt, the listeners can make notes of certain words or phrases that resonate with them and what comes up for them during the listening process.

  • Focus on aspects like the voice and tone of the author. The structure of the sentences, either too long or short, and how it impacted your listening and ability to understand the passage.

  • This can be written down in a journal , and post all the readings these insights can be shared with the rest of the group

  • Finally after the readings and discussions, a writing prompt will be presented, and you can spontaneously journal about it for 6 minutes. Sharing your writing is voluntary.

The Belmondo Book Club is not just about reading books – it’s about sharing insights,

sparking meaningful conversations, and expanding each other’s world views, one book at a time.
